 December has always been a time of reflection for me - and it obviously is the same for the many travel executives.
  Many have been calling because they cannot believe an entire year has gone by and they still have not followed through on their January 2000 resolutions.
  Systemethods is an executive recruiting firm, and what we are hearing from companies includes such things as:
  We still haven't...
  · Replaced that person who never performed as we had hoped.
  · Filled the position that has been open way too long.
  · Followed through on our commitment to grow this organization to take advantage of opportunities in the travel industry.
  And from people who are thinking of changing jobs, we are hearing: "I can't believe I still haven't put my resume together and started looking".
  I'm sure that many other travel industry suppliers are getting calls similar to the ones we are receiving.
  The bad news: These end-of-the-year predicaments are real, and we are not going to truly enjoy the holidays unless we have at least made a start on our 2000 resolutions before Dec. 31.
  The good news: There is still some time to get a jump on 2001.
  Just make that call and get the ball rolling.
  This is not just about your recruiting or job search needs (we would love to help there), but also about anything else that was on your 2000 to-do list that is not even started, much less accomplished.
  I'm going to listen to myself here and take action on some things I promised myself I would do in 2000.
  Hopefully you will do the same.
  Then we can all take a step back, enjoy the holiday season and focus on what is really important this time of year - our families, our friends and our appreciation of all the gifts that have come our way during 2000.
